Their Steps
Kim is a recent graduate from Ultimate Medical Academy. “I received my Medical Billing and Coding Associates degree,” she shared. She is also a single mother of two children ages six and four. “I just started a wonderful job working from home, but my electric bill was already far behind. I knew, once I got my first check, I could pay my bill off.”
Three weeks after starting her new job, her 6-year-old got ill and was admitted to the hospital for a week. “As a mother, I couldn’t leave her side,” she shared. After returning home, two days later, her power was disconnected. “It was going to cost me a lot to restore connection. I didn’t feel like I had any hope in sight. My stress had drained me. I had no vehicle, no way to work, and two small children in tow. I would lay in bed at night, in the dark, holding my children tight to ease their worry of not being able to see, crying silently from fear of defeat.”
“After two weeks of no way to cook for my children and no way to light their steps at night, I’m told I have two weeks to vacate my home. Every wall, at that moment, came crumbling hard upon my head.”
Kim was sharing her troubles with a woman at a store, tears swelling in her eyes. The lady told her about Dallas Christian Ministry. “They had helped her with her electric bill,” she said. “The next day, we called the Dallas Christian Ministry and told my story to a sweet woman on the phone.
The morning after, I was woken up to the best news. They paid the bill! Instant relief came over me. That was the first major blessing we needed to be able to fix the broken in our lives so my children could go back to sleeping peacefully at night. I am beyond grateful to Dallas Christian Ministry. I hope one day to hug the woman who blessed us so graciously.”
